Member ID

member IDs are usually about 10 or more characters long. It may begin with a three letter alpha prefix (e.g. ABC), or contain all numbers, or contain multiple letters throughout.

Group ID

group IDs are often shorter than member IDs, however in some instances they are considerably longer than the member ID and may begin with alpha prefixes, such as the letter W. Medicare NGS insureds do not have group IDs on their Medicare NGS insurance cards.
